Eva’s Closet offers classes in parenting skills, both in groups and individually. We use an evidence-based parenting program called Nurturing Parenting designed by Dr. Stephen J. Bavolek. Dr. Bavolek has been a recognized leader working in the fields of child abuse and neglect treatment and prevention, as well as parenting education. The Nurturing Parenting Programs are family-centered and designed to build nurturing parenting skills in each individual. The program also helps parents learn alternative ways to overcoming abusive and neglectful parenting.
Eva’s Closet’s goal is to give parents the tools they need to help their children become strong, productive citizens. By doing so, Eva’s Closet helps to prevent recidivism in families receiving social services, lower the rate of teenage pregnancies, reduce juvenile delinquency, reduce drug abuse, and stop child abuse and neglect within the communities.
While we cater to diverse family systems, we understand that people come from different cultures and form different relationships with their children. We offer parenting classes to help family members overcome whatever barriers they may encounter.
Individual sessions (one-on-one or couple sessions) consist of one topic each week for 12 weeks.
A group session consists of 5 or more participants up to a maximum 15 participants. The group sessions will meet 6 times for 2 hours each meeting. During the meetings, two session topics will be covered.
We cover many different aspects of parenting, including prenatal and infant care, raising school-aged children, raising tweens and teens, and special parenting situations. Scroll down for a list of our classes and the sessions in each.
