Wow! What an amazing year it was!
When I reflect on this past year, I realize that Eva’s Closet continues to flourish because of God’s Grace. I’m thrilled to be a part of this charitable organization because it draws light on families’ real issues and situations. It is an organization that makes a concerted effort to give back to the community to help it grow stronger.
Eva’s Closet (EC) and Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church located in the Dalworth Community collaborated on a coat and blanket drive at the beginning of the year. We donate to three shelters across the Dallas and Fort Worth areas. It was a very exciting time for EC and we enjoyed helping other organizations.
Also, the women in the community received a special treat as well. Our organization hosted a seminar titled “The Seasons of a Woman’s Life.” We heard about the various seasons that women go through in their lives and how to deal with the most challenging seasons effectively. We intend to reintroduce it in 2022. It was an opportune moment for many women.
Eva’s Closet participated in the Night Out Kick-off Celebration sponsored by Grand Prairie Police Department. Eva’s Closet also participated in Grand Prairie’s “Community Night Out,” which allowed residents to learn about local businesses and organizations. I adore seeing a community band together to support and elevate one another. We also hosted a Mental Health Forum for residents. It was a fantastic turnout, as there was an abundance of information being distributed.
To end, I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who participated and helped Eva’s Closet grow over the last year. I’m indebted to you for your time, encouragement, and zeal. In 2022, I’m hoping to see more of it. I am aware that Eva’s Closet would be unable to continue operating without it.
Eva’s Closet needs community. Community is vital because it is a place where one feels connected and yearns to be a part. Community is where we come together to support one another and converse as we walk down the sidewalk or through the park. It’s when we witness someone in need and come to their aid. It is a place where we never run out of love, kindness, and gratitude daily. It is a place where everyone is treated with dignity regardless of skin color, background, where they come from, and where they are going. It is a place of love being expressed where all individuals feel connected because someone took the time to be excellent. It is a place where we witness smiles. It is a place where we know it is okay not to be okay. Community is where we all work together to live in harmony. Eva’s Closet is a part of the community.
